Slidebar Near One Ton Food Donation! - (December 19 2012)
Now in it’s third year, the annual effort between Southern California’s live music venue, The Slidebar, and Orange County Non-Profit PATHWAYS OF HOPE is approaching a major milestone. Working with national touring acts including skate legend Duane Peters and Death By Stereo to name a few, The Slidebar has hosted free concerts for fans in exchange for non-perishable food donations.
Located in Fullerton, CA., PATHWAYS OF HOPE has spent 36 years working with local businesses and community volunteers to provide necessary services for homeless and financially disadvantaged families throughout Southern California. Functioning as a vital food bank for families and a facilitator of transitional programs, PATHWAYS OF HOPE offers a myriad of services to create independently sustainable lives for those in need.
Since late November 2012, The Slidebar has collected over 1,700 lbs. of goods, near one ton of food. With a goal of 2,000 lbs. in donations achievable, everything collected will help to stock the shelves of one of Southern California’s most essential food banks. Absent of red tape, all donations will immediately go to the displaced and deserving families that look to PATHWAYS OF HOPE for help. Slidebar is calling anyone and everyone that can help to donate and enjoy one of the free concerts.
The remaining events below round out the charity food drive and concert series. Admission is free, but Slidebar is asking that all attendees donate non-perishable food or $10 cash to aide PATHWAYS TO HOPE. The Slidebar also welcomes donations at any time during operating hours outside of special designated events.
